Artist's Comments

Since I have not posted anything in a while (most of it is doodles for my CA sketchbook), I thought I'd share a still life I just finished.
I'm still noob at the whole digital painting thing so please, any advice/critique would be appreciated.

Photoshop - one brush, no smudging. Practicing the whole blending thing.

I'd say that's really good as is. unless you wanted it to look differently...

I like it!
The name too. I see skeletal rats dancing while juggling their skulls... We should make a musical about it! Is about a little skeletal who lost his skull when he died and how he must overcome the hardships and torment of being skullless...

Your sense of colour, depth and general dementions are outstanding. All I can suggest is perhaps to experiment with different brushes. A softer brush would reduce the apparent marks and give it a more realistic feel. Try to play with textures too.

PS. I loooooove how you did the reflective service. All in all. Well done.

Thank you very much. =)
I agree with the brushes, but my choice was on purpose, to learn how to build up the texture the slow way round as part of the exercise (ie: not to be one of the many here relying on dodge+burn with smudge tools).

Even so... those tools, being lazy in nature itself, shouldn't be discarded. But well done on what you wished to accomplished. I think you pulled it off quite nicely.
